8 MART DÜNYA EMEKÇİ KADINLAR GÜNÜ ORTAK BASIN BİLDİRİSİ
Covid-19 salgını dünyanın her yerinde toplumsal eşitsizlikleri derinleştirmiştir. Hükümetlerin bu salgından kaynaklanan ekonomik ve toplumsal krizlerin etkilerini azaltmayı hedefleyen politikaları, ne yazık ki kadınlara özgü sorunların göz ardı edildiğini ortaya çıkarmıştır.
Bu dönemde cinsiyet temelli ayrımcılıkların kadın yaşamı üzerindeki etkisi artmıştır. Karantina dönemi kadına yönelik ev içi şiddetin artmasına, böyle bir durumda alabileceği desteklerin kısıtlanmasına neden olmuştur. Bazı ülkelerde kadın cinayetlerinde artış görülmüştür. Bu dönemde ev içi hizmetler nedeniyle kadınlar ücretli çalıştığı işlerden ayrılmak zorunda kalmıştır. Bu durum, kadınların ekonomik özgürleşmeleri ve kazanımlarına karşı büyük bir tehdit oluşturmuştur. Birçok ülkede hükümetler ekonomik krizin derinleşmesini ve milyonlarca insanın işsiz kalmasını engelleyecek bütünlüklü bir yol sunmadığı gibi hane içi yoksulluğun kadınların sırtına yüklenmesini engelleyecek hiçbir sosyal politika da üretmemiştir. Bireylerin daha çok ev içinde zaman geçirmesi, salgın ile artan temizlik önlemleri, okulların kapanması ve hastalık nedeniyle çocuk, hasta veya yaşlı bakımı gereksinimindeki artış daha çok ev içi ücretsiz emek gereksinimi anlamına gelmektedir. Ataerkil toplum yapısında salgın öncesinde erkeklere göre neredeyse üç kat fazla zamanı ücretsiz ev işi ile geçiren kadınlar bu dönemde bu yükün artışı ve zaman yoksunluğu ile çok daha fazla baş etmek zorunda kalmıştır.
Tüm dünyada olduğu gibi ülkemizde de kadınlar salgın döneminde daha fazla mağduriyet yaşamış, yükü artmıştır. Kadın öğretmenlerimiz artan ev işi yükünün yanında öğrencilerine uzaktan eğitim vermeye, sürekli hazırlık yapmaya ve ev içi dengeleri sağlamaya çalışmaktadır.
Dünyanın neresinde olursa olsun kadınlara uygulanan sömürü ve baskıya karşı mücadele günü olan 8 Mart Dünya Emekçi Kadınlar Gününde Avrupa Sendikaları Eğitim Komitesi – ETUCE’a üye Kıbrıslı sendikalar olarak tüm emekçi kadınlarımızı selamlar, insan hakları temelinde kadınların siyasi ve sosyal bilincinin geliştirilmesi, cinsiyet eşitliğini sağlayacak hak temelli adımlar atılması için mücadeleyi sürdüreceğimizi bir kez daha ortaya koyarız.

JOINT STATEMENT ON THE OCCASSION OF 8TH of march WORLD WOMEN’s DAY
The Covid-19 pandemic has deepened social inequalities all over the world. The policies of the governments aimed at reducing the effects of the economic and social crises caused by this pandemic, unfortunately revealed that the problems specific to women were ignored.
In this period, the effect of gender-based discrimination on women’s life has increased. The quarantine period has led to an increase in domestic violence against women and the restricted the support they can receive in such a situation. Some countries have seen an increase in femicide. During this period, women had to leave their paid jobs due to domestic services. This situation posed a great threat to women’s economic emancipation and gains. In many countries, governments have not offered a holistic way to prevent the deepening of the economic crisis and the unemployment of millions of people, nor have they produced any social policies to prevent the burden of domestic poverty on women. Individuals’ spending more time at home, increasing sanitation measures with the epidemic, closing of schools and the increase in the need for child, sick or elderly care due to illness means more need for free labor at home. In the patriarchal society structure, women who spent almost three times more time than men on unpaid housework before the epidemic had to cope much more with the increase of this burden and the lack of time in this period.
As in the whole world, women in our country experienced more victimization during the epidemic period and their burden increased. In addition to the increasing burden of housework, our female teachers are trying to provide distance education to their students, to make continuous preparations and to keep the balance of their home.
The Cypriot teacher trade unions, members of the European Trade Unions Committee for Education – ETUCE, on the 8th of March which is the day of the struggle against the exploitation and oppression of women wherever they may be, greets all labourer women and states once again that they will continue their struggle to take fundamental steps towards the development of women’s political and social awareness on the basis of human rights and to ensure gender equality.
