Temmuz 2024’ün ortaları yaklaşırken ve bölünmenin her iki tarafında da milliyetçi söylemler yükselirken, biz, kayıp yakınları ve savaş mağdurları, çözüm, yeniden birleşme, barış ve uzlaşma için mücadele eden tüm Kıbrıslılar olarak sesimizi yükseltmeli ve geçmişimizi çevreleyen şiddetin Gerçeğini ortaya çıkarmalıyız. Toplumlararası çatışmanın başlangıcından bu yana altmış yıl, Yunan Cuntası ve EOKA B Darbesi ve ardından gelen Türk Askeri Müdahalesinden bu yana elli yıl, her iki tarafın da masum Kıbrıslı Türk ve Kıbrıslı Rumlara karşı işlediği vahşi suçları bizlere hatırlatmaktadır. Kayıp Şahısların yarısından fazlasının akıbeti bilinmiyor olduğundan binlerce aile acı çekmiştir ve çekmeye de devam etmektedir. Aktivistlerin, gazetecilerin ve şahısların soruşturma çabalarına rağmen bu suçları çevreleyen Gerçek gizlenmeye devam ettiği sürece yaralar açık kalmaya devam ediyor.
Kıbrıs sorununun temelinde bu şiddet yatmaktadır ve bu suçların failleri halen Hakikat’in ortaya çıkmasını çeşitli yollarla engellemeyi başarabilmektedir. Tarihin tekerrür etmeyeceğini güvence altına almak için bu şiddeti çevreleyen Hakikat’e ulaşmalı ve etnik kökene bakılmaksızın tüm Kıbrıslılar arasında kolektif bir hafıza oluşturup bunu genç nesillere aktarmalıyız. Yakınlarının akıbetini arayan mağdurların aileleri, diğer taraftaki ailelerle ortak bir acıyı paylaştıklarını öğrenerek, acılarının daha fazla milliyetçilik tarafından sömürülmemesi için birlikte durmaya kararlıdırlar.
Her iki taraftaki milliyetçilerin izlediği bu suçlara ve dış müdahalelere yol açan politikalar, halkın büyük acılar yaşamasına ve ülkenin bölünmesine yol açmıştır. Bu acılar farklı şekillerde de olsa günümüzde de devam ediyor. Müzakere masasında devam eden çıkmaz, sahadaki gerçekler, siyasi liderlik düzeyindeki olumsuz tutum ve bölgemizdeki savaş çığırtkanlığı ülkemiz için büyük tehlike oluşturmaktadır. İki toplumun Liderlikleri, Crans Montana Konferansı’na kadar müzakere edilen ve masada mutabakata varılan her şeyi koruma altına alarak ve ortak bir sonuca ulaşmanın en etkili yolu olan Guterres Çerçevesinden yararlanarak, çıkmazın üstesinden gelmek ve BM Kararlarında tanımlandığı gibi siyasi eşitliğe sahip, İki Toplumlu, İki Bölgeli Federasyona dayalı, yeniden birleşmiş bir Kıbrıs’a ulaşma yolunda bir anlaşmaya varmak üzere müzakere sürecini yeniden başlatmak için çabalarını ikiye katlamalıdır. Bu, Adamızda barışı sağlamanın ve insanlarımıza refah koşulları yaratmanın en etkili yolunu oluşturmaktadır.
BM Genel Sekreteri’nin Sayın Angela Holquin Cuellar’ın görev süresini uzatacağını ve toplumlararası görüşmelerin yeniden başlatılması için çabalara devam edeceğini umuyoruz. Çıkmazın devamı, içinde bulunduğumuz durumu daha fazla oldubittiyi getirmekte ve statükoyu kökleştirmektedir.
Kıbrıs’ın tüm toplumlarından mağdurları hatırlayarak, tüm Kayıpların kaderinin izini sürmek ve toplumu geçmişimizin şiddet gerçekleriyle yüz yüze getirmek için birlikte durmaya ve çalışmaya devam etme kararlılığımızı beyan ediyoruz. Daha somut olarak şunu beyan ederiz:
- Gömü yerlerinin yanı sıra diğer ilgili bilgileri bulmak için kayıp aileleriyle birlikte çalışmaya devam edeceğiz. Aynı zamanda Kayıpların aranmasına bilgi sağlayan ve etkili yardım sağlayan kişileri onurlandırmaya devam edeceğiz.
- Bu yıldan itibaren Kasım ayının ilk haftasını Kayıplara ve toplumlararası çatışma ve savaşın diğer Kurbanlarına ayıracağız. Bu hafta boyunca, her iki taraftaki mağdurları anmak ve her iki tarafın da masum mağdurlara karşı işlediği suçlar hakkında toplumu bilgilendirmek için aktif önlemler almak amacıyla etkinlikler ve diğer faaliyetler düzenleyeceğiz.
- İşlenen suçları araştırmak üzere bir Hakikat ve Uzlaşma Komisyonu kurulmasına yönelik olarak liderlik düzeyinde mutabakata varılmış bir çözüm ve olası bir anlaşmanın yokluğunda, Sivil Toplum düzeyinde, ailelerin de etkili ve anlamlı bir rol oynayacağı bir Komisyon kurma olasılığının araştırılması sürecini başlattık.
- Çatışma, Savaş Kayıp ve Mağdurlarına adanan Kasım 2024 Haftası’nda süreci hızlandırmak ve daha somut sonuçları duyurmak amacıyla her iki tarafın mağdurları anısına Ortak Anıt oluşturma sürecini sürdürüyoruz.
Kayıp aileleri ve bölünmenin her iki tarafındaki çatışma ve savaş mağdurları, toplumun tüm güçleriyle birlikte Barış ve Uzlaşma için mücadele ederek, ülkemizi siyasi eşitliğe dayalı İki Toplumlu, İki Bölgeli Federasyon temelinde yeniden birleştirmek için eylemsel birlik çağrısında bulunmaktadır. Sevdiklerimizi kaybetme acsını dindirmenin tek çaresi olarak gelecek nesillere barış içinde bir gelecek inşa etmek için birlikte seferber olmaya çağırıyoruz!

Remembering the Innocent Victims of 60 years of conflict and War
Fighting for Peace and Reconciliation
Press Statement
Just as mid July 2024 is approaching and nationalist rhetoric builds up on both sides of the divide, we, relatives of the missing and victims of war and all Cypriots fighting for solution, reunification, peace and reconciliation need to raise our voice and unveil the Truth surrounding the violence of our past. Sixty years since the commencement of the intercommunal conflict and fifty years since the Coup of the Greek Junta and of EOKA B and the Turkish Military intervention that followed, all bring to mind the atrocious crimes committed on innocent Turkish and Greek Cypriots by both sides. Thousands of families have suffered and continue to suffer since the fate of more than half of the Missing Persons remains unaccounted for. The wounds continue to remain open since the Truth surrounding these crimes continues to be concealed despite the efforts of activists, journalists and others to investigate these.
This violence lies in the heart of the Cyprus problem and the perpetrators of these crimes still are able to prevent the unveiling of the Truth in various ways. We need to reach out to the Truth surrounding this violence and create a collective memory among all Cypriots irrespective of ethnic background and pass that on to the younger generations in order to safeguard that history will not repeat itself. The families of the victims in search for the fate of their loved ones have found out that with the families on the other side they share a pain that is common to both and are determined to stand together to ensure that their suffering will not continue to be exploited by nationalism.
The related policies pursued by nationalists on either side that led to these crimes and to foreign interventions have caused extreme suffering to people and divided the country. This suffering continues to date even though it might take different forms. The continued impasse at the negotiating table, the realities on the ground, the negative attitude at political leadership level and the war mongering in our region pose grave dangers over our country. The Leaderships of the two communities, must double their efforts to overcome the deadlock and reconvene the negotiation process, safeguarding whatever has already been agreed on the table until the Crans Montana Conference and the Guterres Framework as the most effective way of achieving a negotiated settlement. An agreement that would lead to a reunited Cyprus based on a Bi-communal, Bi-zonal Federation with political equality as defined by UN Resolutions. This constitutes the most effective way of securing peace on our Island and creating conditions of prosperity for our people.
We hope that the UNSG will extend the mandate to Ms Angela Holquin Cuellar and continue efforts for resuming the intercommunal talks. The continuation of the deadlock provokes more faits accomplis and deteriorates the status quo.
Remembering the victims from all communities of Cyprus we declare our resolve to stand together and continue to work for tracing the fate of all the Missing and bringing society face to face with the realities of the violence of our past. More concretely we declare that:
- We will continue to work with the families of the missing in search for places of burial as well as other relevant information. At the same time, we will continue to honor people who provide information and effective assistance in search of the Missing.
- Commencing this year, we will dedicate the first week of the month of November to the Missing and other Victims of intercommunal conflict and war. During this week, we will be organizing events and other activities in remembrance of the Victims from both sides and in taking active measures to inform society on both sides about the crimes committed against innocent victims by both sides.
- In the absence of an agreed settlement and a likely agreement at the leadership level to set up a Truth and Reconciliation Commission to investigate the crimes committed, we have commenced the process of investigating the possibility of setting up such a Commission at Civil Society level with the Families playing an effective and meaningful role.
- We are continuing the process of establishing a Common Monument in memory of the Victims from both sides aiming at accelerating the process and announcing more concrete results during the November 2024 Week devoted to the Missing and Victims of conflict and War.
The families of the missing and all the victims of conflict and war from both sides of the divide are standing together along with all forces of society fighting for Peace and Reconciliation calling for unity in action to reunite our country on the basis of a Bi-communal Bi-zonal Federation with political equality. Calling for unity in action to build a peaceful future for the generations to come as the only remedy for the loss of our loved ones!

Μνημονεύουμε τα Αθώα Θύματα 60 χρόνων σύγκρουσης και Πολέμου
Αγωνιζόμαστε για Ειρήνη και Συμφιλίωση

Καθώς βρισκόμαστε στα μέσα Ιουλίου 2024 και η εθνικιστική ρητορική εντείνεται και από στις δύο πλευρές, εμείς, οι συγγενείς των αγνοουμένων και των θυμάτων του πολέμου και όλοι οι Κύπριοι που αγωνίζονται για λύση, επανένωση, ειρήνη και συμφιλίωση, πρέπει να υψώσουμε τη φωνή μας και να αποκαλύψουμε την Αλήθεια που περιβάλλει τη βία του παρελθόντος μας. Εξήντα χρόνια από την έναρξη της διακοινοτικής σύγκρουσης και πενήντα χρόνια από το Πραξικόπημα της Ελληνικής Χούντας και της ΕΟΚΑ Β’ και την Τουρκική Στρατιωτική Επέμβαση που ακολούθησε, όλα αυτά φέρνουν στο μυαλό τα φρικτά εγκλήματα που διαπράχθηκαν εις βάρος αθώων Τουρκοκυπρίων και Ελληνοκυπρίων και από τις δύο πλευρές. Χιλιάδες οικογένειες έχουν υποφέρει και συνεχίζουν να υποφέρουν αφού η τύχη περισσότερων από τους μισούς Αγνοούμενους παραμένει άγνωστη. Οι πληγές συνεχίζουν να παραμένουν ανοιχτές καθώς η Αλήθεια που περιβάλλει αυτά τα εγκλήματα συνεχίζει να αποκρύπτεται παρά τις προσπάθειες ακτιβιστών, δημοσιογράφων και άλλων να τα ερευνήσουν.
Αυτή η βία βρίσκεται στην καρδιά του Κυπριακού προβλήματος και οι εμπλεκόμενοι σ’ αυτά τα εγκλήματα εξακολουθούν κατορθώνουν να αποτρέπουν την αποκάλυψη της Αλήθειας με διάφορους τρόπους. Πρέπει να αναζητήσουμε την Αλήθεια και να δημιουργήσουμε μια συλλογική μνήμη κοινή για όλους τους Κυπρίους, ανεξαρτήτως εθνοτικής καταγωγής, και να τη μεταδώσουμε στις νεότερες γενιές ώστε να διασφαλίσουμε ότι η ιστορία δεν θα επαναληφθεί. Οι οικογένειες των θυμάτων, στην αναζήτηση της τύχης των αγαπημένων τους, έχουν διαπιστώσει ότι με τις οικογένειες της άλλης πλευράς μοιράζονται έναν πόνο κοινό και για τις δύο πλευρές και είναι αποφασισμένες να σταθούν μαζί για να διασφαλίσουν ότι ο πόνος τους δεν θα συνεχίσει να τυγχάνει εκμετάλλευσης από τις δυνάμεις του εθνικισμού.
Οι πολιτικές που ακολουθήθηκαν από τους εθνικιστές και από τις δύο πλευρές και οδήγησαν σε αυτά τα εγκλήματα και στις ξένες επεμβάσεις έχουν προκαλέσει ανείπωτο πόνο στους ανθρώπους και είχαν σαν αποτέλεσμα τη διαίρεση της χώρας. Αυτός ο πόνος συνεχίζεται μέχρι σήμερα, παρόλο που μπορεί να παίρνει διαφορετικές μορφές. Το συνεχές αδιέξοδο στο τραπέζι των διαπραγματεύσεων, οι πραγματικότητες στο έδαφος, η αρνητική στάση σε επίπεδο πολιτικών ηγεσιών και η πολεμοκαπηλεία στην περιοχή μας θέτουν σοβαρούς κινδύνους για τη χώρα μας. Οι ηγεσίες των δύο κοινοτήτων πρέπει να εντείνουν τις προσπάθειές τους για να ξεπεράσουν το αδιέξοδο και να επανεκκινήσουν τη διαδικασία διαπραγμάτευσης, διασφαλίζοντας ό,τι έχει ήδη συμφωνηθεί προ και κατά τη Διάσκεψη του Κραν Μοντάνα και το Πλαίσιο Γκουτέρες ως τον πιο αποτελεσματικό τρόπο επίτευξης μιας συμφωνημένης λύσης. Μια συμφωνία που θα οδηγήσει σε μια επανενωμένη Κύπρο βασισμένη σε μια Δικοινοτική, Διζωνική Ομοσπονδία με πολιτική ισότητα όπως ορίζεται από τα Ψηφίσματα του ΟΗΕ. Αυτό αποτελεί τον πιο αποτελεσματικό τρόπο διασφάλισης της ειρήνης στο νησί μας και δημιουργίας συνθηκών ευημερίας για τον λαό μας.
Ευελπιστούμε ότι ο Γενικός Γραμματέας του ΟΗΕ θα παρατείνει την εντολή της κας Άντζελα Χολκίν Κουέγιαρ και θα συνεχίσει τις προσπάθειες για επανεκκίνηση των διακοινοτικών συνομιλιών. Η συνέχιση του αδιεξόδου προκαλεί περισσότερα τετελεσμένα και επιδεινώνει το status quo.
Μνημονεύοντας τα θύματα από όλες τις κοινότητες της Κύπρου δηλώνουμε την αποφασιστικότητά μας να σταθούμε μαζί και να συνεχίσουμε να εργαζόμαστε για την ανεύρεση της τύχης όλων των Αγνοουμένων και να φέρουμε την κοινωνία αντιμέτωπη με τις πραγματικότητες της βίας του παρελθόντος μας. Πιο συγκεκριμένα δηλώνουμε ότι:
- Θα συνεχίσουμε να συνεργαζόμαστε με τις οικογένειες των αγνοουμένων στην αναζήτηση χώρων ταφής καθώς και άλλων σχετικών πληροφοριών. Ταυτόχρονα, θα συνεχίσουμε να τιμούμε τους ανθρώπους που παρέχουν πληροφορίες και αποτελεσματική βοήθεια στην αναζήτηση των Αγνοουμένων.
- Αρχίζοντας από φέτος, θα καθιερώσουμε την πρώτη εβδομάδα του Νοεμβρίου ως Εβδομάδα αφιερωμένη στους Αγνοουμένους και τα άλλα Θύματα των Διακοινοτικών Συγκρούσεων και του Πολέμου. Κατά τη διάρκεια αυτής της εβδομάδας, θα οργανώνουμε εκδηλώσεις και άλλες δραστηριότητες στη μνήμη των Θυμάτων και από τις δύο πλευρές και θα αναπτύσσουμε δράσεις με στόχο την ενημέρωση της κοινωνίας και από τις δύο πλευρές για τα εγκλήματα που διαπράχθηκαν εις βάρος αθώων θυμάτων και από τις δύο πλευρές.
- Ελλείψει συμφωνημένης λύσης και πιθανής συμφωνίας σε επίπεδο ηγεσίας για τη δημιουργία μιας Επιτροπής Αλήθειας και Συμφιλίωσης για τη διερεύνηση των εγκλημάτων που διαπράχθηκαν, έχουμε ξεκινήσει τη διαδικασία διερεύνησης της δυνατότητας δημιουργίας μιας τέτοιας Επιτροπής σε επίπεδο Κοινωνίας των Πολιτών με τις Οικογένειες να παίζουν ενεργό και ουσιαστικό ρόλο.
- Συνεχίζουμε τη διαδικασία ίδρυσης Κοινού Μνημείου στη μνήμη των Θυμάτων και από τις δύο πλευρές έχοντας σαν στόχο την επιτάχυνση της διαδικασίας και την ανακοίνωση πιο συγκεκριμένων αποτελεσμάτων κατά τη διάρκεια της Εβδομάδας Νοεμβρίου 2024 αφιερωμένης στους Αγνοουμένους και τα Θύματα Διακοινοτικών Συγκρούσεων και του Πολέμου.
Οι οικογένειες των αγνοουμένων και όλα τα θύματα των διακοινοτικών συγκρούσεων και του πολέμου από και τις δύο πλευρές στέκονται μαζί με όλες τις δυνάμεις της κοινωνίας που αγωνίζονται για Ειρήνη και Συμφιλίωση, καλώντας σε ενότητα δράσης για να επανενώσουμε τη χώρα μας σε μια Διζωνική, Δικοινοτική Ομοσπονδία με πολιτική Ισότητα.
